President (elect!) Obama

I've finally finished my President Obama doll!  Thanks again to Cici, who suggested it for the Tell Katie What to Knit contest.  Cici will have to forgive me for not knitting him "in the White House", as she suggested, but the holidays are here, and I'm short on time, so knitting the White House seemed maybe a wee bit ambitious right now.

As a holiday gift for all you knitters and Obama fans out there, I've decided to publish the pattern for free!  You can find it here!  Wouldn't he make a great stocking stuffer?  The finished doll is 16" tall.

Anyways, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I'm traveling this weekend, and I'm hoping to get a lot of knitting done.  Lots of exciting projects coming up....

New pattern!

Finally, a new pattern for sale.!  The Jess knitting pattern is ready to go.  You can purchase it on etsy here, or you can buy it on Ravelry, and download it immediately if you're like me and crave instant gratification.

She's a moderately easy, and fairly quick knit.  If you're wary of the i-cord hair, I can tell you that although the hair took about 1/3 of the total time making the doll, I was able to complete the entire doll, including assembly pretty quickly. This is a great project for using up spare balls of yarn.

Now I'm off to finish Obama, which is going to be awesome I think.  He's looking really good.  I've been trapped inside the house with the kids for a few snowy days, and while it was not the most fun, I did get a lot of knitting done.  Here's a pic from yesterday.  It was brutally cold.

Jess Lewin is a lovely singer songwriter in the UK, who has commissioned me to make a doll in her likeness for use on the CD.  And her she is!  Jess has awesome auburn curls, and the doll was fun to make.  You can sample some of her music here.  I am planning to publish the pattern for sale, later this week, just as soon as the tech editing is finished. 

 

On a side note, if you are or know any tech editors, please let me know. I have several patterns coming out in need of editing.

And the winner is......

No..not the election silly!   That's not until tomorrow!  No, Obama is the result of the "tell Katie what to knit contest", and the lucky winner is Cici!  Cici suggested I knit Obama, and she will be hearing from me soon.  Please remember that the winner was chosen via the Randomator...

Could this be a sign?  Obama wins my contest today, and the election tomorrow??  I don't know.  I'm no political analyst, merely a  humble knitter.

There were so many fantastic ideas.  It would have been very difficult to choose one.  Thank goodness for the Randomator.  I was also fairly apprehensive about  choosing.  How on Earth does one knit a French Horn?  For that matter, how on Earth does one knit Barack Obama??  I guess I'd better figure that out pretty soon, because he's now next on my to-be-knit list.  Big thanks to everyone who entered!!
